It’s been a while hasn’t it? Three years have past since the Klaxons burst onto the musical scene with “Myths of the Near Future” garnering mass critical acclaim. And then, possibly due to too much “psychedelic experimentation”, things seemed to come undone. In 2009 an early copy of their second album was rejected by Polydor for being too experimental. Whether this was due to textbook, myopic interference from the record label, or a loss of focus by the band is open to interpretation.
Now that a release date for new album “Surfing the Void” is penned in for 23rd August, and the band are streaming tasty taster “Flashover” on their website we need interpret no longer. Judging from the quality of “Flashover” we remain to be convinced that focus has not been lost permanently. Still, we await the release of “Surfing the Void” with rabid anticipation, hoping that the band can fill the void with their presence.
